April Ross

April Ross has won more than one Olympic medal. She is among a few female players of beach volleyball who have achieved this feat. In Tokyo in the coming days she will attempt to claim her third Olympic medal with fellow the first-time Olympian Alix Klineman. In addition, Ross will be aiming for her first Olympic gold. At 39, this could be Ross' last opportunity to claim an Olympic gold. But she's still certain of taking top honors. Ross, via NBC Boston, said that if the team plays well or at all they can earn a gold. That's why I'm taking a little bit of luck too. Ross born in 1982 and was raised within Costa Mesa California with her siblings and parents, started playing sports at Newport Harbor High school. She was able to participate in numerous activities during her time at Newport Harbor High School. As a prep-athlete she played indoor track and volleyball. But she clearly was superior to the rest in this latter game. In her college profile, she played outside of the hitter middle blocker and setter throughout her volleyball time in high school. In recognition of her work, she was honored as an 1999 Gatorade International Player of the year in Circle of Champions. Additionally, in 2000, she was awarded the Orange County Athlete of the year for volleyball. While Ross and Klineman are a couple since 2017, the former was already an established participant on the beaches long before their pairing. In fact, she won multiple major tournaments using two partners, one of whom is an icon of volleyball. Between 2007 and 2013 she was in a partnership with Jennifer Kessy, who is currently her coach. Kessy's teammate Ross, who won the world title together with Kessy in 2009 was also significant on the international stage. They eventually won a silver medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Misty May Treanor and Kerri Jennings the legendary team that won the 2012 Olympic Games in London, took each other to take home the gold. Ross was Walsh Jennings new partner after May-Treanor's resignation. They both won beach volleyball bronze for the Rio Olympics of 2016. Ross was a college athlete for USC Trojans before starting her professional career. She was a player in high school and in before hitting the beach as a professional. She had a great run during her time in college. The year 2000 was her freshman year. was when she won the Pac-10 as well as NCAA Freshman of the Year awards and be an All-American. In addition, she helped her Trojans to make it to the Final Four. She was devastated through a tragedy in her life during her sophomore year. However, she managed to become an All-American in her second year. In the two years she played for the Trojans they helped to win two consecutive titles. In 2003-2004, she was named the best female volleyball player on the collegiate scene in America through The Honda Sports Award. Ross who was a USC international relations student was a renowned volleyball player. Margie Ross, Ross' mother, never had the opportunity to see her daughter become the beach volleyball's biggest star. In 2001 when Ross was in her sophomore year in USC her mother passed away due to breast cancer. She continues to cherish her mother who died. Margie has been an inspiration both in her personal life and at the beaches.
