Anna Paquin
Anna Paquin (born Winnipeg, born in Wellington,) is the name of a Canadian actress from Canada. Paquin, born in Winnipeg and raised by Wellington Paquin's mother, made her acting debut as Flora McGrath. For this role she received an Academy Award of Best Supporting Actress for the romantic comedy The Piano at the young age of 11. She was the second youngest winner in Oscar History. In 1993 she won the Academy Award at age 11 for playing the inquisitive and talking girl who is the daughter of Holly Hunter who played the main character. After an audition Flora McGrath was cast as the daughter a Scottish pianist. Flora McGrath is the daughter of a muted Scottish musician who came into New Zealand to marry in the 19th century. She moved to the United States as a teen. Paquin started her acting career in the midst of her childhood with a role of the Jane Eyre protagonist in the Franco Zeffirelli novel Jane Eyre followed by a major part on the film Fly Away Home. Paquin played Frankie Addams as a child in the TV adaptation of Carson McCullers novel The Member of the Wedding. Paquin played the queen of Spain, in Steven Spielbergs 1997 feature film Amistad. She played teenagers on Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (2000) as well as A Walk on the Moon (2000). The actress played her character groupie Polexia Aphrodisa on Almost Famous (2000).
